Easter: A Journey Between Contrast and Reconciliation

A week before Christ was condemned by a multitude shouting to Pilate “Crucify him!” another crowd had welcomed him into Jerusalem, waving palm branches and spreading cloaks along the road. This dramatic contrast helps us understand the deep divisions present in the society of that time.

Yet today, as then, we witness a fragmented and changing society, marked by increasingly pronounced polarizations. Social media has amplified this tendency, creating echo chambers where opinions become radicalized and authentic dialogue weakens. We are often more ready to judge than to understand, quicker to condemn than to extend a hand.

Christ, however, showed us a radically different way. Instead of condemning in return, he transcended these divisions by choosing forgiveness. In the moment of maximum suffering, he offered us the example of love that overcomes every human barrier. Christ’s forgiveness was not a gesture of weakness, but the manifestation of a power greater than violence itself: the power to break the chain of hatred and revenge. A power that, two thousand years later, continues to challenge our worldly logic based on retaliation and division between “us” and “them.”

May this Easter become for each of us an opportunity to rediscover mutual love. A love that is a daily choice to overcome prejudices, to extend a hand even when it costs us effort.

Happy Easter to all, with the wish that we may always be bearers of His light in our daily environments, contributing to building a more fraternal society, where reconciliation is not an empty word, but a lived experience.
